BCV-8 Bendigo began transmission on 23 December 1961, along with GMV-6 Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley.

The callsign stood for Bendigo Central Victoria.

On 12 May 1967, BCV's coverage was expanded with a transmitter installed at Swan Hill on VHF-11. By the early 1990s, it would move to VHF-10.

In 1973, an affiliation was formed between BCV-8, STV-8, and GLV-10 which became the Television Centre of Victoria (TCV).

BCV became an affiliate of Network Ten during aggregation in 1992. This logo was also used by TNT-9 Tasmania from 1989 to 1999. Sometime in the early 1990's BCV-11 Swan Hill changes its signal to VHF-10. On 1 January 1992, the station expands to Ballarat on UHF-39 and Hamilton (Western Victoria) on UHF-31.

In September 1993, Southern Cross Network was rebranded SCN TV.

On 30 November 2000, BCV-8 began broadcasting on a second analogue channel (UHF-38) as a countermeasure against interference with GTV-9's digital signal, also on VHF-8.
