The 1966 FIFA World Cup (Branded as World Cup '66) was the 8th edition of the FIFA World Cup, the global championship tournament in men's association football, held eight stadiums in seven cities across England from 11 to 30 July 1966.

The defending champions were Brazil, who won as the second title in Chile 1962. England won the tournament at home against West Germany in the original Wembley Stadium, London, on 30 July 1966.

The logo was represented as the tournament with a Jules Rimet Trophy with the FA crest placed in the ball as the globe surrounded by the words "WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP • JULES RIMET CUP • ENGLAND • 1966". And the background was the British flag (The Union Jack) as the union of all four Constituent countries of the UK (England with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). Besides England, neither of three British football teams didn't qualify the tournament.

For the first time in the history of FIFA World Cup, World Cup Willie (or simply known as Willie) was the mascot at the time as national animal of England, wearing the Union Jack Shirt, as a representation of one of constituent countries of the UK.
