The 2005 FIFA Club World Championship was the fourty-fifth FIFA-recognized club intercontinental championship, the second to be FIFA-organized, and held between 11 to 18 December 2005 in Japan. This was the first edition of the Club World Championship since 2000, the first in a 6-team format, and the first to be held in Asia and have a title sponsor, Toyota. The reason for its location and sponsor is that it was formed by the merger of the previous Club World Championship and the Toyota European/South American Cup, which held its last edition a year prior.
