The 2014 FIFA World Cup was the 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup, the global championship tournament in men's association football, held across 12 cities in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014.

The defending champions were Spain, who won the 2010 tournament in South Africa. The tournament was won by Germany, which beat Argentina in the Estádio do Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro, on 13 July 2014.

On December 2006, Confederação Brasileira de Futebol announced their bid to host the 2014 FIFA World Cup. On 30 December 2007, FIFA confirmed that Brazil would be hosting the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
