The logo follows the new standard for the event logo starting from the [[2014 FIFA World Cup]], where the logo is an abstract interpretation of the FIFA World Cup trophy. In this case, the logo recreates the trophy from a traditional Arabic woolen shawl with a swooping curvature, depicting desert dunes. The shawl in the emblem is commonly worn during the winter, as the World Cup will take place in November and December. The symbol also references the infinity symbol to represent the “interconnected nature” of the event, and the number eight refers to the eight stadiums which will host World Cup matches.

The official logo was unveiled at 20:22 at the National Archives Building in Doha on 3 September 2019. This was to coincide with the anniversary of Qatar gaining independence from the British in 1971. This logo was unveiled considerably later than most World Cups, where it usually unveiled four years minimum prior to the event. It was also simultaneously unveiled on FIFA's social media accounts and was projected onto landmarks in 24 cities around the world.

The logo follows the new standard for the event logo starting from the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where the logo is an abstract interpretation of the FIFA World Cup trophy.

The Qatar 2022 font takes cues from Arabic lettering and calligraphy, merging it with contemporary styling of typography. The typeface as a whole reflects Qatar as a nation with strong cultural ties to the Gulf region and a modern, prosperous society.
