The logo follows the new standard for the event logo starting at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, where the logo is an abstracted interpretation of the World Cup trophy. In this case, the logo recreates the trophy from a traditional Arabic woolen shawl with a swooping curvature, depicting desert dunes. The shawl in the emblem is commonly worn during the winter period, as the World Cup will take place in November and December. The symbol also references the infinity symbol to represent the “interconnected nature” of the event, and the number eight referring to the eight stadiums which will host World Cup matches.

The 'Qatar 2022' font takes cues from Arabic lettering and calligraphy, merging it with contemporary typographic styling. The typeface as a whole depicts Qatar as a nation with a strong cultural ties to the Gulf region and a society built on modernity and prosperity.
