3 Sat is a German-language television channel jointly run by the public broadcasters in Germany (ARD and ZDF), Switzerland (SRG SSR, represented by SRF) and Austria (ORF). Much like the Franco-German TV channel, Arte, the channel airs cultural programs.

Ever since its inception, the channel has used its long-lasting slogan, Anders fernsehen (Different Television in English).

Typography:  Gill Sans
Launched:  June 1, 2003

A completely new identity for the channel was launched on June 1, 2003.

While the Gill Sans font was kept intact, the number "3" is now white and has been put in a red square. The number "3" represents the three participating countries (specifically Germany, Austria and Switzerland), while the square symbolizes the partnership between the four broadcasters.

While the new logo was designed in-house at ZDF, the new idents to match this identity were designed by Filmstyler in Frankfurt.
