4Music to re-launch with new look, new logo and new identity - The Drum
On 27 September 2018, Channel 4's multi channels rebranded with 4Music incorporating the Channel 4 logo. The three blocks in the Channel 4 logo were coloured pink (with one of them being shortened to make the letter "M"), with the other four letters with the design from before - also coloured pink - placed next to them, thus forming the word "MUSIC".
Throughout the 2020s, 4Music moved 2 times through Freeview's EPG slots. The first one was made on 4 November 2020, to accommodate BBC Four in its slot (to comply with new Ofcom rules), and the second one was made on 26 January 2022, to accommodate the relaunch of BBC Three on linear TV the following February.
On 29 June 2022, 4Music's channel slot was replaced in order to accommodate the channel E4 Extra, extension of Channel 4's E4 channel, which launched the same day. However, 4Music itself didn't go off-the-air; instead, it moved to occupy the former slot occupied by the Box Hits channel. This means the channel wasn't actually replaced, only moved (though it is no longer available on Freeview after the move). With this change, 4Music returned to a music-only programming, ditching all series and Channel 4 archive material that 4Music began airing before.
On 29 January 2024, it was announced that 4Music (along with the other former Box Plus Network members) would close down later this year, as part of range cuts by Channel Four Television Corporation[1][2].
