7-Eleven, Inc. is an American retail company that owns all locations of the 7-Eleven franchise in the United States. It was founded in 1927 as The Southland Corporation. While the name "7-Eleven" was first used for the stores as early as 1946, the actual company would not be renamed to 7-Eleven until 1999.
Although founded in the United States with national headquarters in Irving, Texas, the company today is owned by its Japanese division, which itself is owned by Seven & i Holdings, based in Tokyo.

This is the only known logo of the company while it was The Southland Corporation, as any subsequent and prior instance simply displayed the company's name in plain text. Designed by the same design agency who created the logo for the 7-Eleven stores in 1968, this logo first appeared on the company's report for 1969 that was published a few months later into 1970.
In 1991, after suffering from financial difficulties, the company was acquired with a 70% stake by the Japanese retail chain Ito-Yokado, the same company who collaborated with Southland to launch 7-Eleven stores in Japan, removing this logo in the process.

1999-2021[]
In 1999, the company changed its name to 7-Eleven, Inc. to better reflect on the focus of the 7-Eleven chain, as well as the company selling off its non-7-Eleven products.
In 2005, as part of a restructuring effort from its parent company, Seven & i Holdings was created, in which Ito-Yokado and Seven-Eleven Japan became independent subsidiaries of. Later that year, SEJ fully-acquired 7-Eleven, Inc., although the latter retains control of stores in the United States.
