1975-1982
The Coastliner brand for route 700 (Portsmouth - Brighton) was introduced by Southdown Motor Services in 1975.
1982-1985
Route 700 became part of Southdowns 'Stagecoach' limited stop network. Ironically, Stagecoach was also the name of the company which took over Southdown in 1989.
2000-2001
Stagecoach reintroduced the Coastliner brand in 2000 to celebrate the brands 25th anniversary.
2005-2010
Stagecoach brought back the brand again in 2005.
2010-2014
2014-present
Coinciding with a new timetable and some new buses, Coastliner was renamed Sussex Coastliner despite the fact the western end partially operates in Hampshire.
Shortly after, it was renamed once more, this time to 700 Coastliner.
