On 1 July 1995, 8TV began its operation under the name MetroVision. However, it was shut down at 1 November 1999.

2004–2018[]
On 8 January 2004, MetroVision was relaunched as 8TV under the ownership of Media Prima. Its logo came with 2 color variants. The orange variant represents the English programming slot, while the pink one represents Chinese programming.
2018–present[]
On 5 March 2018, 8TV became a full-fledged Chinese language TV channel, thus dropping the orange logo variant that was associated with its English programs. The orange logo variant was replaced by the pink logo variant that was used since New Year's day 2018.
