Long-running radio station which plays modern music. Originally broadcasting to London, the station's owner Global Radio bought several CHR radio stations across Great Britain in 2011, renaming them as Capital.
1973-1975
Capital Radio originally launched on 539 kHz medium wave which was a temporary frequency as the transmitter at Saffron Green was not completed until 1975. Once on-air, the frequency switched to the now familiar 1547 kHz (194 metres) - later tweaked to 1548 kHz.
