9X was a Hindi general entertainment channel, or GEC, originally launched on 12 November 2007 by INX Media (whose other channels were 9XM and NewsX). The channel was one of a number of Hindi GECs launched in the late 2000s, of which Colors was the only one to be successful; all the others, like 9X and Imagine TV, failed.
9X was acquired by Zee on 28 April 2010 to complement Zee TV, as a replacement for Zee Next, which had closed down in 2008. However, its ratings did not improve, and 9X closed down on 30 April 2015 along with Hindi movie channel Zee Premier.
The launch identity was developed by English & Pockett.
