ABC Kids was created in 1989 as a music label called ABC For Kids. The logo featured six blocks (3 across and down) with the top row lettered "A", "B" and "C", and the bottom row featuring an apple, a bee and a carrot beneath their respective letter. On 13 September 1991, all children's programming on the ABC was organised into a daily broadcasting block. This new programming block featured a range of programming ranging from preschoolers to young children. The programs on this block were also released on video (and later, on DVD). This logo kept the 1974 ABC logo until February 2009.

On 1 August 2001, the ABC For Kids timeslot was rebranded ABC Kids and its content expanded to include new shows for older children, as well as younger children. A new logo was also introduced, featuring a solid green Lissajous curve (taken from the ABC logo from the same year) overlaid with "abckids" in lowercase blue letters, with the "c" being placed lower than the other letters.

In February 2009, ABC For Kids changed their logo to a 3D render variant of its 1989 logo. This logo appears to be made in the 3DS Max software. At the same time, the ABC Kids channel expanded to ABC2 as ABC for Kids on 2.

On 2 May 2011, all children's programming was removed from ABC1 and was divided between the ABC2 children's block and ABC3 (now ABC Me). The ABC2 children's block was rebranded ABC4 Kids and was refocused as a part-time channel for preschoolers sharing the same bandwidth of ABC2 between 6am and 7pm. A new logo based on the ABC3 logo was also introduced and it was used in some colour variants; blue, green and red.

ABC Kids 2015

On 2 March 2015, the name of the channel was changed back to ABC Kids from the first era and a new logo inspired by the classic children's logo, which was unveiled recently. The new logo is a modernized variant of both ABC For Kids logos between 1989 and 2009. The new identity was developed by Australian brand agency Hulsbosch. Most of the idents from the ABC4 Kids logo would still remain so the logo and jingle itself is different.
