ABS-2 Adelaide began transmission on 11 March 1960. The callsign stood for ABC South Australia.

On 10 April 1965, ABNS-1 Spencer Gulf North began transmission. This would be followed on 3 December by ABGS-1 South East South Australia, on 20 January 1971 by ABRS-3 Riverland, on 16 July 1973 by ABCS-7 Ceduna, and on 30 November by ABWS-7 Woomera.
1974–2002[]
On 28 April 1977, relay station ABLCS-9 Leigh Creek began transmission. Sometime in the 1980s, ABCS-7 Ceduna would move channels to VHF-9.
