On October 1, 2011, there was the auditions for a new AKB48 overseas group at Taiwan. The group was called TPE48, based in Taipei, Taiwan.

On July 30, 2018, AKS had cancelled a joint venture and license agreement with TPE48 Entertainment and AKS has created AKB48 Team TP.
