In 2024, Adelaide Football Club joined Melbourne (Naarm), Port Adelaide (Yartapuulti) and Fremantle (Walyalup) in adopting First Nations names during the Sir Doug Nicholls Round. The name Kuwarna is derived from the Kaurna word for Crows.
