Adevărul is a daily newspaper in Romania based in Bucharest, founded in Iași in 1871. It was later reestablished in 1888 in Bucharest, and again, in 1919.

In 1951, it was closed down once again due to the targeted by Communist Romania's censorship apparatus, and replaced with Scînteia (formerly spelled as Scânteia).

Following the Romanian Revolution in 1989, Scînteia's assets were mostly taken over to reverted back from its name.
