In July 2017, Adobe announced that it would end support for Flash Player on December 31, 2020, encouraging use of open HTML5 standards in place of Flash. As of January 12, 2021, content started being blocked from running on Flash. Despite this, new versions of Adobe Flash Player Standalone are still bundled with Adobe Animate and counted as new versions.

After Adobe Flash Player's support has ended after 2020 for all users outside China, and followed by the removal of Flash Player deployments in Windows, Adobe and Harman International have signed an exclusive agreement to provide Flash Player's extended support for enterprise customers under special license terms.

HARMAN's Flash Player variant is now numbered as version 50.x to avoid confusion with the Mainland China-only variant that is released by Zhongcheng.
