The phoenix in the form of the acronym VIP was originally drawn by Chinese artist Han Meilin who also created the official mascots of the 2008 Beijing olympics. "Air China" in Chinese was autographed by Deng Xiaoping. The Air China's logo was designed by Shao Xin 1988. In 2007, Dongdao Design refreshed the Air China logo.
