Air France is the flag carrier of France, owned and operated by Air France-KLM. During its over eighty-year-long history, it has become one of the largest airlines in Europe alongside Lufthansa and Ryanair. It is one of four founding members of the SkyTeam airline alliance; the other three being Aeroméxico, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air.

Two years after type designer Roger Excoffon became the art director of Air France, this logo debuted. Within the next year this lettering would be reworked into a full alphabet, and released as Nord (later renamed Antique Olive Nord in 1964).

This logo was first seen on the livery of Air France's Concordes upon their unveiling in November 1975. It was not used until the first official advertisements promoting the upcoming Concorde service were published on December 12, 1975.
