2002–2017 (webseries), 2006–present (television series)[]

Alejo & Valentina were created in 2002 by Alejandro Szykula on the LoCoArts website, developed in Macromedia Flash. Initially exhibited online, they gained notable popularity in several Spanish-speaking countries throughout Latin America, until 2005.
The series originally had two seasons online: one with ten episodes and the other with six. Over the years, it gained significant popularity. In 2004, Pablo Zimmerman joined the company as a series producer and sales representative. That same year, director Marcelo Tinelli proposed including the series on his show Videomatch. Tinelli announced the series on air by broadcasting a fragment of the web episode "MC King," but due to production issues and missed deadlines, the project ultimately fell through.
In 2005, Alejo & Valentina had a new opportunity. MTV Latin America became interested in the series and commissioned 13 new episodes, but required that each episode be 24 minutes long.
