1996–2020[]
In 2015, Chevron sold their stake in the company.
Ampol (second era)[]
2020–present[]
In 2020, Caltex Australia began a major rebrand back to Ampol, after Chevron terminated their licencing agreement with the company. The rebrand by Sydney-based Houston Group was gradually applied across its station network throughout 2020-2023 and cost the company up to AUD$165 million.[1]
Caltex did eventually return to Australia in 2022, replacing Puma Energy, though in its own format.
