Established in 1946, Amul is an Indian cooperative dairy company, based at Anand in the state of Gujarat. It is managed by a cooperative body, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), and one of the largest dairy producers in India and the world. It is well-known for its mascot, the Amul girl, which was invented in the 1960s for Amul Butter.
