A new logo for Animal Planet was launched on February 3, 2008 in the United States. The logo was created by Dunning Eley Jones.[1] Despite its decade-long lifespan, it received mostly negative reception from the public, going as far as being one of the worst-received logos of 2008, according to branding blog Brand New.

The rebranding effort included a new tagline "Same Planet, Different World". Two years later in 2010, Animal Planet's next tagline was "Surprisingly Human". That slogan further reinforced the network's new focus on an increasing number of personality-based series following animal-related investigations and occupations.

In December 2016, Discovery filed a trademark for a new logo for Animal Planet.[1] However, this would ultimately go unused.

2018–present[]

On October 16, 2018, Animal Planet unveiled a new logo that took effect on October 28, reimagining the elephant motif from the 1996–2008 logos. The new branding symbolizes a new mission of "keeping the childhood joy and wonder of animals alive by bringing people up close in every way." The new branding coincided with the premieres of Amanda to the Rescue and Crikey! It's the Irwins. The on-screen settings were designed by Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv.
