This icon was used from iPhone OS 1 to iPhone OS 2. It has an orange to yellow gradient with the skeuomorphic design seen in other app icons used at the time, with a simple sketch of an iPod in the center.

2009–2011

This icon was used from iPhone OS 3 to iOS 4.

Apple Music

2007–2013 (iPod Touch), 2011–2013

With the release of iOS 5, the iPod app had been split into the Apple Music and Videos apps on iPhone, while on iPad it had simply been renamed to Apple Music. This icon was used from iOS 5 to iOS 6 on iPhone and iPad users and iPhone OS 1 to iOS 6 on iPod Touch users.

2013–2014

This icon was first used and only present in iOS 7.

2014–2015

SVG NEEDED

In 2014, the gradient was reversed. This icon was used for iOS 8.0 to iOS 8.3 and in iOS 9 beta 1 and 2.

2015 (unused)

This icon was only used for iOS 9 Preview.

2015–2020

This icon was used from iOS 8.4 and iOS 9 Beta 3 to iOS 14 Beta 2. Its debut coincided with the release of the Apple Music streaming service.

2020–2024

This icon has been used since iOS 14.

2024–present

Dark variant

In iOS 18, the music note was moved slightly to the right.
