Asianet Movies is the Malayalam movie channel of the Star network in India. It was launched on 15 July 2012, five months before its Bengali counterpart Jalsha Movies, launched on 16 December. Its main competitor is Surya Movies.
Like Jalsha Movies, Asianet Movies has not changed its logo and graphics since its launch in 2012.
An HD version was scheduled to be launched on 25 December 2021, along with the HD version of the Tamil movie channel Vijay Super and the new Marathi movie channel Pravah Picture.[1] However, on 26 November 2021, these launches were indefinitely postponed, due to a delay in the TRAI’s new tariff rules. They are now expected to launch some time in 2022.[2]
