AstraZeneca plc is a British–Swedish pharmaceutical company formed by the 1999 merger of the Swedish Astra AB and the British Zeneca Group.
It is the second-largest British drugmaker after GlaxoSmithKline (which was formed the next year when Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham merged).
