The 2020 Atari VCS was Atari's first home console released after the Atari Jaguar from 1993-1996, which was considered a commercial failure, leading to Atari's long exit from the console business. The console was made to look like the original 1977 model, but with modern games. Although the console was first released in 2020, it begun development three years prior in 2017.
