AvtoVAZ (Volzhskiy Avtomobil'nyi Zavod, Volga Automobile Plant) is a Russian, formerly Soviet automobile plant, based in Tolyatti.
When it's 1966, on the first radiator screens of VAZ-2101, based on Fiat 124, & it Was Not any logo, but the company needed trademark, so Soviet designer V. Antipin drawn the prototype of the logo based on Fiat's one.
Later, A. Dekalenkov, designed 3 new prototypes of the logo (first one is on the picture). On the logos was a lodia ship in the shape of a cyrillic V, standing for Volga river, that is factory placed near it, the logo was never used.
Designer Yuriy Danilov updated prototype and Dekalenkov didn't like it, but it should've became first official VAZ logo.
On first VAZ 2101's appeared a logo with "TOLYATTI" written on it, it is unknown who added it, on first 30 cars FIAT accidentally write "ТОЛЬRТТИ", instead of "ТОЛЬЯТТИ", mistaking latin "r" with cyrillic "ya".
On the next months, That Logo was Fixed at Once, The Letter R to Я.
On later cars word "TOLYATTI" was removed.
New logo was designed by Vladislav Pashko.
1st April 2015 team of main AvtoVAZ' designer Steve Mattin launched the new logo.
