BBC World Service Television was split into BBC World and BBC Prime on January 7, 1995.

On November 9th, 1997, BBC switched its corporate logo and launched its domestic news channel BBC News 24. The two channels used the same idents, but with different logos underneath.

As part of a complete graphical overhaul of BBC News, the channel changed its name to BBC World News on April 21, 2008. On 18 March, 2013, BBC World News moved to New Broadcasting House, London.
