Bn 1996, Bilbao based financial service company the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya controlled the Argentine bank, the Banco Francés, and the BBV wordmark were added to match the corporate logo in all branches.

The letter "A" were added into BBVA's logo, following the acquisition of Banco Argentaria in the same year.

The word "Banco" was removed from its corporate name.

On the 24th April 2019, BBVA Francés announced it will drop the "Francés" name and become BBVA.[1]
