Babies "R" Us was launched in April 1996 to compliment the toy superstore Toys "R" Us, selling baby and toddler products. Unlike Toys "R" Us and Kids "R" Us, this contained 9 characters: the first B, the A, the second B, the I, the E, the first S, the backwards R, the U and the second S.

On September 22, 2007, the logo would agree on purple and remains that color. The star was added into the backwards R and it was made larger. The speech marks were also dropped from the backwards R.
On June 29, 2018 due to bankruptcy, all stores had been closed in the United States, but on January 20, 2019, parent company Tru Kids Brands was formed to be the new owner for Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us.
