Bandai Entertainment was the U.S. branch of Bandai Visual. The company was founded in 1998 as Anime Village, being a separate unit within Bandai for anime distribution in the North American market. In 2008 BEI and Bandai Visual USA merged to expand its catalog. The distributor closed its doors in 2013, leaving distributed its licensing rights.
