Bank Mandiri was formed on October 2, 1998. On July 31, 1999, four previous state-owned banks in Indonesia such as Bank Dagang Negara (BDN), Bank Pembangunan Indonesia (Bapindo), Bank Ekspor Impor (Bank Exim), and Bank Bumi Daya were merged into Bank Mandiri.

On January 14, 2008, Bank Mandiri recolored its waving ribbon to gold and moved into the new 'Mandiri' blue wordmark. It was designed by the Indonesian branch of Brand Union (now Design Bridge and Partners).
2016–present[]
On October 2, 2016, the logo became flat.
