On March 14, 1988, the famous emblem logo for Barcelona '92 was introduced. Designed by Josep Maria Trias i Folch, the logo represents a human figure jumping.

On that same date as the emblem logo was debuted, the mascot for the Games was revealed which was a animorphic Catalan Pyrenees sheepdog designed by Javier Mariscal. On June 17 of that year, the mascot was given the name Cobi and his design was finalized one month later. Cobi also appeared in merchandising, commercials among others. He even also had his own television show called The Cobi Troupe.
