The predecessor of Batibot, Sesame!, was created by Children's Television Workshop and the Philippine Sesame Street Project (PSSP), which was funded by the Philippine government.
In 1984, it was cancelled after the Philippine economy collapsed. Some assets such as the puppets due to a license agreement with Children's Television Workshop.

In 1985, Batibot was launched on RPN network, and it was relaunched in 1999 as Batang Batibot until the show ended in 2003.
