In 1930, the Commission of Telegrapsh and Telephones (Régie des Télégraphes et des Téléphones, RTT) was founded after telecommunications in Belgium ended abruptly to the financial dependence of the state–owned company, as massive investments were required for the damage and dismantling of the networks during the war.

Belgacom[]
1991–2003[]


In 1991, RTT became a authonomous public company and rebranded as Belgacom, ending its absolute monopoly on telecommunications equipments and services, granting it an exclusive grand for public telecommunications. The regulation and surveillance were assured by the Belgian Institute of Postal Services and Telecommunications (Institut Belge des Services Postaux et des Telecommunications, IBPT).
