The New Berman's[]
1962-1979[]
In October of 1961, a lightning strike caused a massive blaze which completely gutted four buildings, Berman's being one of them. Following this fire, the Berman family decided to opt out of retail and sold their assets to Gayle's, a neighbouring department store in early 1962. Months later, Berman's reopened and operated as "The New Berman's" until 1979.
