Bhojpuri Cinema is a Bhojpuri-language movie channel, as is evident from its name. It was launched around April 2015[1] on DD Free Dish, the government-owned free-of-cost satellite TV platform, and was added on other platforms in due course of time.[2] With the launch of Bhojpuri Cinema, sister channel Dangal was transformed from a Bhojpuri movie channel into a Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC).

Since April 2019, when television ratings were re-released to the public[3] following the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s drastic changes in TV channel packaging and pricing, Bhojpuri Cinema has become the most-watched Bhojpuri TV channel, overtaking the Zee-owned Big Ganga.[4] This, however, has nothing to do with DD Free Dish (the way Dangal becoming the most-watched TV channel nationwide was because of DD Free Dish), because all major Bhojpuri TV channels—such as Bhojpuri Cinema, Big Ganga, Dabangg, Dishum and B4U Bhojpuri—are available on DD Free Dish.
