1964-1970[]
The first Big W opened in 1964 in Jesmond, New South Wales. The chain grew out of Woolworths Limited's original Variety Stores. In 1970, the name Big W ceased to be used and the stores were converted into Woolworths Family Centres. The logo has the Woolworths wordmark in some places.

1976–1989[]

In 1976 Big W was resurrected with their first department store in Tamworth, New South Wales. The logo identical to the 1972 Woolworths logo, except the wordmark is in the icon itself.
1989–2007[]

The logo got refreshed in 1989, now having its own standalone logo.
By 1989, the separation of Big W and Woolworths Supermarkets was largely completed, although a few Woolworths Variety Stores continued to operate into the nineties. Few stores still use this logo as store signage.
2007–2017[]

Despite being replaced in 2012, the logo was still used as a secondary logo until the rebrand in 2017.

The logo is now placed in a bright blue container.

The circle was changed to a darker indigo colour. A version of this has the font with sharp edges.

On 27 July 2017, Big W unveiled a new logo for the first time in almost 10 years with a new font similar to the 1989 logo (with the G having no vertical line). The container color was also changed.
