Channel 31 Melbourne began transmission on 6 October 1994. The callsign MGV stands for Melbourne Geelong Victoria. A Como inner-city translator would later open in 1996 on UHF-64.
2002–2010[]
On 30 April 2004, the Australian Broadcasting Authority granted Channel 31 a full-time community broadcasting licence. On 28 May 2010, Channel 31 officially started broadcasting in Digital with the official launch date on 11 June.
2010–present[]
On 27 June 2010, the station was rebranded C31 with a new logo, identities, schedule, and watermark.
