CAAC Airlines was the airline division of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the monopoly civil airline in the People's Republic of China.
1949-1988[]
In 1988, CAAC choice to split the CAAC Airlines to 6 different airlines: Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Northwest Airlines (merged into China Eastern Airlines in 2002), China Southwest Airlines (merged into Air China Airlines in 2002) and China Northern Airlines (merged into China Southern Airlines in 2002)
