CCTV-1 (CCTV-1 综合, "General") is the flagship channel of Chinese television network CCTV. It has a mixture of all kinds of TV programs and is available on cable, terrestrial, and satellite television services.
The first channel of Beijing Television (北京电视台) began regular broadcasts on September 2, 1958. The channel used handwritten or Song typeface "北京电视台" Chinese characters as its ident.
Beijing Television was renamed China Central Television (CCTV, 中国中央电视台) in May 1, 1978. CCTV-1 used CCTV's "butterfly" logo as its ident. In 1983, CCTV-1 introduced computer-generated on-screen logos. Initially, the on-screen bug had a "butterfly" pattern.
After CCTV-2 became available nationwide, CCTV-1 added figure "1" to its screen bug to avoid confusion. The logo was narrowed in 1988 following CCTV moving its operation to Color TV Center (now CMG Headquarters).
An SVG version of this logo is recommended but not required.
