1985-1999[]

The station signed on for the first time on October 1, 1986, as CKSR-FM "Star FM", a hybrid easy listening/adult contemporary station.

CKVX-FM[]

1999–2003[]

XFMVancouver

On December 31, 1999, Rogers Sports & Media flipped the station from Star FM to alternative rock as CKVX-FM "104.9 Xfm".

2003-2004[]

104-9-ClearFM-CKVX-2003

CKVX switched formats and brands again at noon on December 26, 2003, when the 104.9 Clear FM brand was adopted and the station began playing a mix of adult contemporary and smooth jazz during most of the day.

CKCL-FM[]

2004–2008[]

On April 8, 2004, CKVX-FM became CKCL-FM.

2008–2009[]

FM-1049-CKCL-2008

On September 26, 2008, CKCL dropped the station's adult contemporary format, switching to classic hits and re-branding itself as FM 104.9.

2009[]

1049-FunFM-CKKS-2009

On November 12, 2009, CKCL rebranded itself as 104.9 fun FM.

CFUN-FM[]

2009–2011[]

The call sign changed in late November to CFUN-FM to reflect the updated branding.

2011–2015[]

On August 17, 2011, at 8:42 a.m. (12 minutes past the intended time of launch), after playing "Cuts Like a Knife" by Bryan Adams, the station, after making an announcement of an impending change to the station and redirecting "Fun" listeners to sister station CKLG-FM (now CJAX-FM), changed its format to Top 40/CHR, branded as Sonic.

CKKS-FM[]

2015–2022[]

Kiss-Radio-CKKS-2011

On February 23, 2015, CFUN re-branded as KiSS Radio, unifying itself with the KiSS branding used by other Rogers-owned CHR stations. It then swapped call signs with CKKS-FM in Sechelt, British Columbia, which became CFUN-FM.

2022-present[]

On June 30, after playing Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name" for 30 hours, Rogers confirmed that the Sonic Radio brand, used for a modern rock format at Rogers-owned CHDI-FM in Edmonton, would be returning to Vancouver that morning with an alternative format; the new format took effect at 6:00 a.m.
