CNN Brasil square

CNN Brasil is a news channel owned by Novus Mídia (a society between the enterpreuner Rubens Menin, owner of the construction company MRV Engenharia, and Douglas Tavolaro, former news president of RecordTV) and licensed by CNN International.

Before the launch, there were two former attempts to establish a Brazilian version of the world-famous news channel CNN. First, with Record itself when creating its news channel (now known as Record News) but it was declined by Turner, because of its direct connections to the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG/IURD) and to the Brazilian Republican Party (PRB); and later, with RedeTV!, also turned down because of its relation with churches by selling half of its programming schedule to various religious denominations and the network's financial situation, with a profit well below its competitors (Band, SBT, RecordTV and Globo).

Its broadcasting started on March 15, 2020, with pay-TV distribution by Turner which continues to broadcast CNN International and CNN en Español in the country.
