CNN Brasil square

CNN Brasil is a news channel owned by Novus Mídia - society between the enterpreuner Rubens Menin, owner of the construction company MRV Engenharia, and Douglas Tavolaro, former news president of RecordTV - and licensed by CNN International.

Before the launch, there were two former attempts to establish a Brazilian version of the world-famous news channel CNN. First, with Record itself - when creating its news channel (now known as Record News) - but declined by Turner, because of its direct connections to the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) and to the Brazilian Republican Party (PRB); and later, with RedeTV!, also turned down because of its relation with churches - by selling half of its programming schedule to various religious denominations - and the network's financial situation, with a profit well below its competitors (Band, SBT, RecordTV and Globo).

Its broadcasting started in March 15, 2020, with pay-TV distribution by Turner - which continues to broadcast CNN International and CNN en Español at the country.
