Canal+ in Scandinavia has its origins in FilmNet which was launched in 1985.

FilmNet was acquired by the French Canal+ in 1997, and subsequently took the name of its parent. Even after Canal+ no longer had control over the channels since 2003, these continued to use the Canal+ branding until 2012, when they would be rebranded as C More.

On February 28, 2022, C More's streaming service was discontinued in Norway in favour of TV 2 Play. The C More brand was discontinued in Sweden on August 14, 2023, and in Finland on October 10, 2023. On December 31, 2023, the C More app was shut down in Denmark, however it is still available though TV 2 Play and pay-TV providers.
