The first Canadian Tire logo was introduced in 1926, consisting of a tire running hand-in-hand with a one dollar coin. This logo was created by an unnamed customer who had presented it to A.J. Billes, one of the co-founders of Canadian Tire. The customer left the store before Billes could ever thank him or ask for his name.

In 1940, the upside-down triangle logo was introduced. The idea for the upside-down triangle came from when Billes superimposed the Eldred Pennsylvania Oil logo onto an upside-down triangle graphic in 1929.
