Canal Digitaal was launched in 1996 as MultiChoice (not to be confused with a South African television company), a subsidiary of South African conglomerate Naspers.

Canal Digitaal Satelliet

On September 1996, Canal+ Group acquired MultiChoice Netherlands, along with film channels FilmNet from Naspers and the television service had renamed to Canal Digitaal Satelliet.

This logo debuted in 2008, as it began to disassociate the company with Canal+ Group (the French company divested its shares in 2004). Since 2009, Canal Digitaal became a part of the Luxembourg-based satellite television company M7 Group.

Following M7 Group's rebrand in 2017, Canal Digitaal unveiled a new common logo that has shared with other M7 subsidiaries. As of September 2019, the ownership of Canal Digitaal returned to Canal+ Group since M7 was acquired the same year.
